TEDxYouth@DinosaurPark Comes to RAPID CITY! Calling Speakers and Volunteers!

TEDxYouth@DinosaurPark

We are proud to announce that LCE Founder Maggie Dunne is the Lead Organizer of TEDxYouth@DinosaurPark!

TEDxYouth@DinosaurPark, an independently organized event licensed by TED, will make its debut at the Journey Museum and Learning Center in Rapid City, SD on Saturday April 23, 2016.

TEDxYouth@DinosaurPark is a ground-breaking event that will feature youth and adult speakers with ties to Rapid City, South Dakota, and surrounding regions. The event will offer the opportunity for youth of different ages, backgrounds, interests and talents to share the stage AND inspire, educate and entertain the audience with their “ideas worth spreading.”

Although the initial deadline has passed, speaker applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through February 1, 2016. Following an audition and interview process, speakers will receive mentorship from teachers, business people, artists and scholars to ensure their presentations are top flight!

“Our goal is to assemble and showcase a diverse selection of speakers and to highlight and elevate their talents, dreams, hopes, interests, differences and similarities,” said organizer Maggie Dunne, the President of Lakota Children’s Enrichment. We encourage all youth 25 or under to apply for a spot, as well as adults who have a message to share with a youth audience. We’re looking for the potential of your ideas. If selected, speakers will be assigned a mentor to help prepare for rehearsals and performances. We hope that this will become an annual event!”

The Journey Museum and Learning Center is proud to host this historic TEDxYouth event and we look forward to supporting it in many ways, including the use of our auditorium and facilities, our educators and mentors,” said Team Member Troy Kilpatrick, of the Journey Museum and Learning Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Other team members include Cindy Dunne of Lakota Children’s Enrichment, and Sharice Davids of Thunder Valley CDC.

Want to get involved, but don’t want to take to the stage? We are also recruiting volunteers and sponsors!  It takes all sorts of talents, skills and people to make this event happen.
