Books stacked at the Post Office… next stop Pine Ridge Reservation

More than 3,000 books, weighing approximately 1,300 pounds, in 35 boxes went off today from New York to the Red Shirt School (in Hermosa), the Little Wound School (in Kyle) and the American Horse School (in Allen).

Boxes were sorted by grade level: preschool and picture books; Elementary School readers; Middle School books; and High School books and classics. The assortment is an assortment of hard covered books and paperbacks — all popular reading materials, guaranteed to engage young people across the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Thanks to VolunTEAM members Nora, Cindy, Maggie, Hyacinth, Sean, Aaron and the Steinman household staff for packaging, labeling and helping moving the load to the White Plains Post Office. Thanks are also in order to approximately 30 volunTEAM members who reviewed the books for quality control and labeled and sorted the books in the months before the shipment!

Please consider funding a shipment of books, by making a small monthly donation!
