#GivingTuesday Success

In December, 2013, we signed up for the #GivingTuesday challenge, a national movement designed to make a statement against #BlackFriday commercialism and to show the world that people care about helping others.

On Tuesday December 3, 2013, in the first few hours of the day, Crowdrise hosted a #GivingTuesday fundraising platform and the Case Foundation and Network for Good agreed to match the first monies raised by charities.  Although our Crowdrise campaign shows that we raised $2,275.00, because so many of our donors contributed early in the day, we were notified that Lakota Children’s Enrichment will receive an additional $1,100.00 under the Case Foundation and the Network for Good’s matching grant program.

With YOUR help we raised $3,375.00 in just a few hours.

100% of the funds raised will be applied to programs for youth on Pine Ridge like the GameChangers Youth Summit and the Pine Ridge Writing Challenge.

A huge shout out goes to Romance author Sarah Anderson for organizing a Team of romance enthusiasts that rounded up some of the usual suspects, including author Shiloh Walker and others. As a team, they raised $335.00 in under an hour. Let’s hear it for Team Romance!

Another huge shout goes out to Crowdrise, the Case Foundation and Network for Good, 92Y, the United Nations Foundation and all the other organizers for creating the #GivingTuesday movement!

Our model is one of volunteerism on and off the Reservation, and our programs are funded by the generosity of people like you, who are willing to invest in the future of native youth.

Wopila Tanka (times 3,375)!

Cheers to a happy and healthy 2014!
